The price of an average home in Renfrewshire has smashed through the £150,000 barrier.
That’s up a giant 17 per cent on the same time last year . . . or a salary-sized £32,046.
The figure is from actual house sales and has been revealed by the government agency Registers of Scotland.
The leap took the average price from £129,381 to £151,427.
It was the fourth biggest increase in the country, behind Midlothian on 20.3 per cent, Clacks on 19.5 per cent and Stirling on 18 per cent.
All local authority areas in Scotland revealed a rise, but Renfrewshire has smashed the national average price hike of 11.3 per cent to £181,391.
Meanwhile in East Renfrewshire the prices between last October and October 2021 increased by 14.1 per cent.
That has taken the average cost of property there from £247,395 to £278,971.
Renfrewshire’s neighbour Inverclyde recorded a 16.4 per cent jump . . . but it remains the cheapest place to get on the property ladder.

Registers of Scotland Business Development Director Kenny Crawford said: “The average price of a property in Scotland at £181,391, remains one of the highest reported for any month since January 2004, from when Scottish data for the UK HPI was first available.
